A Night to Remember at Laund Hill
On Friday 15th March, football fans from across the country gathered at Laund Hill Community Club in Huddersfield for a truly unforgettable evening with England legend Stuart Pearce.
Just days after a well-publicised mid-air health scare. Stuart showed his trademark grit and character by keeping his commitment to appear, and delivered an honest, moving, and at times hilarious night of football stories, personal reflections, and insight from a life dedicated to the beautiful game.
From tales of his iconic playing days under Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest to his experiences wearing the England shirt with pride (and pressure), fans were treated to a rare glimpse behind the headlines. Stuart spoke candidly about his infamous penalty miss in 1990 and the powerful redemption moment at Euro ’96, captivating the audience with his openness and humour. He also shared anecdotes about some of the biggest personalities in the game, including the legendary Paul Gascoigne.
More than just a football evening, it was a celebration of resilience, loyalty, and humility, all qualities that Pearce embodies both on and off the pitch. His down-to-earth nature, dry wit, and powerful storytelling made a huge impression, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
The event also raised over £900 for Laund Hill Community Club through a signed England shirt raffle, adding another highlight to a brilliant night.
We’re incredibly grateful to Stuart Pearce for joining us, especially under the circumstances, and to everyone who supported the event including host Jed Stone, Edwards Catering, Jacob Brian Tailors of Leeds, and all who made the evening run so smoothly.
If you ever get the chance to see Stuart Pearce live – take it. This was more than a football event – it was an inspiring night with one of the game’s greats.
